The voice of Leadership Austin alumni! This committee contributes to the design of alumni-centered educational programming, the annual holiday party, the triennial survey and more! We seek a diverse representation of alumni from across programs and class years. The time commitment is one meeting per quarter, plus optional project assignments. 2023-2024 Committee Co-Chairs: Justin Brady-Joyner (Essential 43 - 2022) and LaCole Foots (Emerge 15 - 2022).
Want to coach individuals interested in applying for the Leadership Austin Essential or Emerge program? Provide feedback to individuals on their draft application at an in-person work session. Your role is to offer encouragement and constructive feedback. Volunteers need the ability to review applications quickly, ask probing questions to unearth the person's strengths and unique leadership contributions, guide individuals if unsure about which program to apply for and provide feedback on the spot to assist the applicant. Staff will be available on site to assist with answering questions. 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Help us give attendees at our largest fundraising event of the year an incredible experience - and raise vital scholarship funds! Roles include setup, parking lot attendees, registration, ballroom seating guides and breakdown/load out.
Hate going to the same old event? Love to support missions that matter to you but hate fundraising events? Help us craft a mission-oriented best gathering ever. We are redesigning our annual fundraising event, Best Party Ever. We are looking for eight alumni who dislike boring fundraising lunches and want to join our dream team to create what will become Austin’s lunch of the year.
Help design curriculum, content, and conversations for Leadership Austin programs such such as Essential, Emerge, Experience Austin, and/or Engage. This work is seasonal. Time commitment varies based on your availability.
Innovative thinkers and giving champions are wanted for Leadership Austin’s Development Committee. In 2023-24, we will implement new, creative ways to fundraise for scholarships, host fundraising events and activities, and shape Leadership Austin’s strategic revenue plan. Time commitment is approximately four hours per month from October to June.
Support arrival and departure for the cohort, help set up and/or break down the classroom, assist facilitator as needed. Classes are held monthly, September through May. We will reach out to you to coordinate scheduling.
The Finance Committee guides and supports the fiscal health of the organization. This team meets eight times a year for a financial review and to provide oversight for the organization in order to maintain strong and healthy fiscal practices. 2023-2024 Committee Chair: Matt Pope (Treasurer of the Board of Directors, Essential 37 - 2016).
We frequently have needs for clerical support, counting item inventory, organizing files, etc. If you'd like to help in the Leadership Austin offices - either occasionally or on a regular basis - let us know. We can always use extra hands!
Partner with the Leadership Austin Program Office to coordinate high-impact class days. Tasks can include scheduling speakers, organizing learning materials in Google Classroom, and preparing general class communication for programs such as Essential, Emerge, and Experience Austin. Skills needed: Strong verbal and written communication skills, general understanding of civic and community issues, and a commitment to timely responsiveness. Estimated 5 hours per month. Work in-person at the Leadership Austin offices, or virtually as projects allow.
Help us increase awareness with new audiences to recruit the next Best Class Ever. We are proactively recruiting year-round with concerted pushes in April-June. Time commitment is flexible based on your availability.
Leadership Austin has launched an inclusive strategic planning process for 2023-34. Help with logistics for inclusive alumni and stakeholder engagement, such as coordinating and promoting involvement opportunities, scribing discussion notes, and synthesizing key insights. Time commitment varies. Volunteers will need to be able to take direction from staff and strategic plan consultant team.
